Un-named Island in Prince William Sound, Alaska

Where Culross Passage and Port Nellie Juan meet in the waters of Prince William Sound (148 degrees and 12 minutes West, 60 degrees and 37 minutes North) is an island off the NW shore that makes a most delightful campsite. Three large rocky islets lie close together and storms have deposited gravel between them, linking them into one larger island. The gravelly beaches meet at the center creating a well-drained camp spot with picture postcard views in three different directions. On a September evening, long before the Exxon Valdez was a household word, I camped on this island with a friend. After dinner and a few drinks we watched the full moon rise over Prince William Sound. In a lifetime of campsites this is one at the top of the list. I want to return.
